Players Rating Under Lampard's Chelsea reign; Part 1- Goal Keepers and Defenders
With Lampard’s Chelsea managerial reign came to the end we
look at all the players how they have fared under the clubs legend managerial spell. All
the players will be rated start from 2019/20 until half of the 2020/21 season
where Lampard was sacked midway through the season. This will be first part of
the players rating and on this part the Goal keepers and defenders will be
rated first.
Goal Keepers
75 million, world’s most expansive goal keeper was having decent season under Sarri back in 2018/19 season. But after Lampard reign he described as one of the worse goal keeper in the top division with having a worse goal saving ratio, errors after errors and so many awful performances, there might be some good performance here or there but it won’t hide from the real craps.

from 47 appearances simply not good enough.

Just preferred as backup for Kepa and sometimes lampard favoured caballero ahead of Kepa and produced mixed performance for Chelsea. Not the quality that Chelsea want but sometimes always considered as a better option to pick him up rather than Out for form kepa.

Signed at the beginning of 2020/21 season straight away
replaced Kepa as the first choice Goal Keeper and it’s paid off. He is having a
better debut season with Chelsea produced some crucial saves, recently exposed
by his defence massively but still makes some stunning stops. So far proved to
be a good signing for Chelsea.

Defenders
One of most consistent and versatility player under Lampard
even under all previous managers. His main position is right back but he still
operates from all around the defence and wing backs. Whenever he played gives
his full hard work on the pitch, few bad performance here or there but
consistently he performed well whenever he call upon and captain of the club.
His playing time recently was reduced only by the brilliant Reece James but one
of the important player Chelsea.

Academic product always rarely gets their playing time under
previous managers but under Lampard it was different story. After a nasty
injury ruled him out in the beginning of 2019/20 season then he make his
competitive debut in league, since then started a play more minutes in the
premier league and overtaking Azpilicueta to be clubs first choice right back.
On his 1st season one criticism that he was had was his defensive
duties but now he really has improved his defensive duties a lot and Chelsea
had one of best right back in league for next 10 plus years. Another consistent
performer under Frank Lampard.

36 year old just signed in the summer by Chelsea. Age is just a number for him. Chelsea is team that conceded the most goals in the top half of the table in 2019/20 season. Main reason for that was lack of leadership and communication skill from the entire centre back from Chelsea. Since the signing of Thiago Silva, he immediately brings the leadership and communication quality in Chelsea backline. Since his ever presence in the first team squad the defending was looked better in the first half of 2020/21 season. And proved to be one of best signing and one of the better players under Lampard reign.

Kurt Zouma(15) Centre Back- AGE; 26 YEARS
The most trusted centre back by Lampard and compare to other
centre backs who feature in 2019/20 season Zouma was the most used player by
Lampard. For the 2020/21 Zouma was the first choice centre back alongside with
Thiago Silva. He had a up and down season with Chelsea under Lampards first
spell but on the Lampards 2nd spell he has improved a lot and his
partnership with Silva proved to be really crucial for Chelsea. But since
Tuchel took over after the Sacking of Lampard his place under threat as the new
manager looking to favour Ruediger over Zouma. Under Lampards spell at Chelsea
Zouma was best centre back alongside with Thiago Silva.

Antonio Rüdiger(2) Centre Back- AGE;27 YEARS
The German international was the best centre back for
Chelsea before Lampard reign but a nasty injury to his knee at the end of
2018/19 Season ruled him out the starting months of 2019/20 season. Since he
came back from his injuries he hasn’t been same as he used to be before his
injury. Inconsistent performance and his shaky defending was one the reason for
Chelsea fall down the defence. Equally he had good performance as well but his
level dropped drastically since his injury and being out favour under lampard
in the majority of the 2020/21 Season. But since the arrival of Tuchel could be
turning point for his Chelsea career. Under Lampard just an inconsistent
Performer.

After a successful loan spell at derby with Frank Lampard,
Tomori was a another academic graduate given the chance to shine for Chelsea in
the first team by Lampard. Tomori used his chance very well as he was first
choice Centre back under Lampard for the first half of 2019/20 season. All of
sudden without any reason he was frozen out by Lampard and completely lost his
place in the first team for the rest of season. It might be some issue behind
the scenes or training ground issue. When he return back to the first team for
some matches he has being inconsistent in terms of performance. For 2020/21 season
he was out of favour as Lampard choose Zouma and Silva as his first Choice
centre Back.. But now he headed to Italy for loan spell at AC Milan. It’s now
up to Tuchel whether he gonna use Tomori after his loan spell or not but
whenever Tomori played for Chelsea he gave his full potential. Lampard didn’t
unleash him well enough.

For the short period of the 2019/20 he was centre back in
real good form compare to other centre backs. But for majority of the season
same like Rudiegar he was being inconsistent in terms of performance and it is
continuing on current season as well as he was just a 4th choice
Centre back now. His lack of pace being an issue with his game style and so
lack experience but he is 24 now should have gain lot of experience with his
senior players. Overall below Par performer under Lampard reign.

Signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2020. Chelsea have been
crying for proper left back for a long time since Ashley Cole left back in 2014
and they have finally got one. Chilwell having a great start of life for
Chelsea and being one of best player in current season. People questioned about
his 55 million fee for him but so far he has silenced the question raised about
him the 55 million seemed to be well spend of him.

When Lampard played with wing back system Alonso seemed to
be a better option for the left wing back because of his attacking quality but
when the system switch back normal 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 Alonso struggled lot because
is defensive quality. He can comfortable at all in the left back position
because of his lack of pace, he had a few good games in the 2019/20 season but In
the beginning of the 2020/21 season Alonso completely taken out of first team
squad after he subbed off in the half time against West Brom where had shocker
of 45 minutes. Probably that is the last time where he put on the Chelsea shirt
and he is pushing to the out of door from the club. Under Lampard for the
2019/20 season he is an average performer but overall he is just a below par.

Emerson was having a good start of 2019/20 season but after
he pickup an injury during the first International break of that season his
form has been dropped. Since then he was in and out in the first team squad and
since the arrival Ben Chilwell in the summer, Emerson mostly features in the
cup games where did well on those game. So far he has been a good squad player
and so for under Frank Lampard.
