Manchester City 1-2 Chelsea;Players Rating vs Manchester City

Chelsea gets the physiological advantage over Manchester City in the rehearsal of the Champions League Final and a massive advantage in the race to finish in the top 4 as they beat the potential Premier League Champions 2-1 away from home in Premier League. It's a game of 2 half in which Manchester City dominate the 1st half and took the deserved lead at Half Time which could have been more for them as they denied the 2nd goal from spot-kick by Mendy for Half Time. But Chelsea came out in the 2nd half as a better team and deservedly equalizes as well, also then they went to win the game in the injury time. It was an eventful match as both teams had their moments but Chelsea came out as the winner in this match and here is the player's rating.

Note;(GK-Goal Keeper, CB- Centre Back, LWB- Left Wing Back, RWB-Right Wing Back, CM- Centre Midfield, LF-Left Forward, RF-Right Forward ST-Striker, )

Formation:3-4-2-1

GK- Edouard Mendy – Pulled off a couple of decent saves in the 1st half importantly he saved the Penalty from Aguero which to be fair it was an awful panenka penalty attempt from Manchester City’s Striker. But still have to give credits to Mendy as he stayed concentrate and calm for the spot-kick.  Rating- 7/10

CB- Azpilicueta – Completely dominated Raheem Sterling with an outstanding defensive display as he dealt with everything. He also goes forward well in the 2nd half when Chelsea in the search for the Equalizer which eventually came from him as he assisted the 1st goal for Chelsea. His statistics also very impressive as he had the most for Touches, Passes Completed, Duels Won, Tackles, Clearances, Aerial Won, and 2 Interception which all was a team-high.  Rating 8/10

CB- Andreas Christensen – Not a good day for him as he looks all over the place in the 1st half and misjudged many of Manchester City’s through balls as one of them which leads to a goal for Manchester City. This would probably the worst game he played under Thomas Tuchel and more worryingly he went off injured after the error he made for the goal as it looks like a hamstring injury for him which is a concern for the Team despite his horror show today.  Rating 3/10

CB- Ruediger- yet again defend it well throughout the game as Ferran Torres having a quiet time on the left side and also played in a couple of nice passes to the forwards to create something for the team.  Rating 7.5/10

RWB- Reece James-    A decent 1st half from him as he defends it against Raheem Sterling and creates some issues on the right side when he goes forward, but James turned into a beast in the 2nd half as he produced an outstanding attacking display on the right flank for Chelsea. Benjamin Mendy the Manchester City Left Back was torn apart by Reece James in the 2nd half and also he could have had 2/3 assist to his name if his teammates made the good timing run inside the box as he put in marvelous crosses inside the box. When he needs to defend James did his job as well as he produces the Man of the Match performance on his return in the Startling 11. Rating 8.5/10 Man of the Match

LWB-Marcos AlonsoThe match-winner as he arrives at the right time inside the box to score the late winner for Chelsea. Alonso gets up and down on the left flank tirelessly for the team also defends it well against Cancelo. He also creates some issues when he goes forward as well as his linkup with Hakim Ziyech on the left flank was decent.  Rating 8/10

CM- Billy Gilmour This youngster is just 19 years old but he played like an experienced player against the potential Premier League Champions. His passing ability and linkup play with his teammate were impressive especially his forward-thinking when he had the ball was good as well because when he had the time with the ball the first thing he tries to do was pass the ball forward to create the attack for the team. Gilmour also had a couple of shaky moments as he conceded the Penalty which was missed by Aguero but overall he showed today that the Manager can trust him for the games against a big team Manchester City.  Rating 7/10.

CM- Ngolo Kante- yet again Kante was the heart of the team as he produced another superb display against Manchester City. Whenever they trying to attack Kante was there to try to intercept and stop their attacks to progress. His breakup when he had the ball also key for the Chelsea attacks as alongside Gilmour they controlled the thing in the middle of the pitch. Rating 8/10

RF- Christian Pulisic- losing some of his battles with the Manchester City defense as they dealt with him on multiple occasions but also Pulisic looks dangerous when he had the ball as he creates some issues for them as he plays his part for the equalizer as he did well to hold the ball when Ake pressured him and played a good pass to Azpilicueta.  Rating 7/10

LF- Hakim Ziyech-  The best attacking outlet for Chelsea on the pitch as he was creating all sort of problems for Manchester City. Scored the crucial equalizer with a nice low drive shot from outside the box and also forced Ederson to make one good save in the 1st half from outside the box. His linkup play with his teammates was also impressive and key as he played in some nice passes create some good openings for the team. Rating 8/10

ST- Timo Werner -    Assisted the winner for Marcos Alonso as he did well to play the right pass inside the penalty box. Werner also making some good movements’ without the ball which creates some issues for the City’s defense but he should be checking his position and have to make the right timing run because he was constantly caught offside. And also he had the ball in the back of the net twice but both ruled out for offside that’s because of his poor timing runs which he needs to improve.  Rating 7/10

Substitution

Kurt Zouma for Andreas Christensen – came on for the injured Christensen and put a great display for the team. He made 2 goal-saving tackle as he denied Raheem Sterling from scoring inside the box and also another one which Aguero was running towards the goal the striker was denied by Zouma with his another superb tackle. On the other hand, he also could have conceded a penalty after he looks like trips Sterling inside the box but at the same time, Raheem Sterling should have been sent off as well after his challenge on Timo Werner in the 1st half therefore it might a give and take situation here.   Rating 7.5/10

Jorginho for Ngolo KanteCame on for the last 25 minutes and controlled the thing in the middle of the field. Rating 6/10

Hudson Odoi for Hakim Ziyech- his 15 minutes cameo was impressive, hold the ball well, and played a nice through ball for Werner for the winning goal. Also had a goal disallowed for offside as he creates some problems for the City’s Defense. Rating 7/10

Manager

Thomas Tuchel- the manager made a lot of changes in personal which ends up in a good a way for him. His game management and tactics for the 2nd half were vital for Chelsea as the team went for it in the 2nd 45 minutes which paid off. Thomas Tuchel now had a physiological advantage over Pep Guardiola with this win as I mentioned earlier but the manager and the team should not be carried away from this as they need to be the focus for the upcoming fixtures and also the FA Cup final awaits next week as Chelsea face Leicester in the FA Cup final after they face Arsenal in the Premier League. Therefore crucial fixtures are coming and the manager, players have to stay focus on the glories. For the match against Manchester City, Thomas Tuchel yet again delivers for Chelsea.   Rating 9/10
